Workshop 1. Simon Colley (Cherry Orchard Primary School)
‘The Same Journey; Teachers learning alongside students'
"To be a great teacher, you must be a great learner.
In my workshop, I look at how Lesson Study and Learning Logs have allowed me to learn alongside the children. To discover the idiosyncrasies which plague my classroom or blossom within it and how the children’s journey is paralleled by my own."
Simon is a Year 6 teacher and Curriculum Leader at Cherry Orchard Primary.
Workshop 2. Becca Thomas (Cherry Orchard Primary School)
'Thinking Skills'
"Curiosity killed the cat, why? Quick fire ideas using a range of strategies to get the little nippers feeding out of your hand. All ideas are transferable across key stages with a little imagination."
Becca is phase leader for Years 5 & 6 and leads 'Learning Without Limits.'
Workshop 3. Duncan King (The King's School, Worcester)
'Making it stick; helping students to learn smarter'
"For some time cognitive science has been able tell us which are the best methods to help students learn and retain information. These methods are, however, rarely used in the British classroom. In this workshop we will examine three key strategies and consider how we might best incorporate them into our practice."
Duncan is Academic Deputy Head and Geography Teacher at The King’s School, Worcester
Workshop 4. Adrian Price (Tenbury High School)
'Life After Levels' Keep Calm and Feedback! This workshop will give teachers the opportunity to discuss the issue of life after levels and provide a brief overview of one school's response. Teachers will leave feeling energised about this massive structural change and see it as a force for good.
Adrian is Principal of Tenbury High Ormiston Academy, French teacher and former SSAT lead practitioner.
Workshop 5. Andrew Denton (The De Montfort School, Evesham)
'Improving learning through Student Leadership'
"My session will be focussed on improving learning through student leadership. I will outline our learning ambassadors program and how student leaders have taken on greater responsibility within lessons and the impact this has had on ATL and engagement."
